Engineered Solutions

All of our mass flow controllers/mass flow meters are configured for your specific conditions. We pride ourselves on success in delivering customized mass flow instruments based on OEM specifications. Mass flow techniques provide more reliable, repeatable, and accurate gas flow rate measurements compared to volumetric methods such as rotometers and turbine meters.

What does a mass flow controller do?

Mass flow controllers are instruments that measure and control the flow of gas in reference to a specified flow rate. When adjustments in gas flow are required to maintain that rate, the feedback from the sensor is used to create an electronic signal to send to a control valve. Mass flow controllers are calibrated for the flow range over which they maintain control. A mass flow controller is often used for process control when accurate measurement and control over a process is required.

What’s the difference between a mass flow controller and mass flow meter?

A mass flow meter measures flow using a sensor but does not include a proportional control valve and does not control gas flow. Mass flow controllers both measure and control gas flow, according to a command signal (setpoint). To maintain this rate, the controller measures and adjusts the gas flow using a precise, proportional control valve.
